RVIA Meets With Policymakers At Legislative Summit In Florida

According to RV Industry Association’s (RVIA) News and Insights report, the association’s state government affairs department was in attendance this week at the 2021 Legislative Summit in Tampa, Florida. It is the most important state legislative conference of the National Conference of State Legislatures across the United States.

The summit was attended by more than 3,000 participants, including lawmakers, legislative staff, and experts in government affairs from all over the nation.

At the event, the association met with lawmakers and staff of more than 30 states. They also presented the recently-launched State Legislative Agenda with over 250 people. Alongside learning about the legislative priorities of the RV industry, the legislators were able to see the economic benefits generated by the industry in their states.

There is no other event that allows this level of access to so many state policymakers,” said Mike Ochs, head of the state government affairs team. “This year, we were not only able to tell the great story of the RV industry, but we were also able to discuss the new state legislative agenda and the specific issues we will be working on in the coming months with key state legislators and policymakers.”

Alongside RVIA, the National Association for RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) and the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) were also present. The two organizations were able to make an outdoor recreation exhibit that featured a Bayliner boat and a Tiffin motorhome.

RVIA’s state team was active in presenting the RV industry’s interests to lawmakers from across the U.S., covering topics including the need for modernization of campgrounds, specific franchise laws for RVs, and the establishment of an Office of Outdoor Recreation in every state as well as defining PMRVs and the economic impacts of the RV industry in each state.
