The Taitung Forest District Office announced on September 8, that the Shangyang- and Jiaming Lake Cabins along the Jiaming Lake National Trail will reopen at a third of their normal capacity Friday, a report said.

This announcement by the office comes after Monday’s Cabinet announcement that the Level 2 Pandemic Alert will be extended to Sept. 20 and certain restrictions will be eased.

According to the office, Shangyang’s and Jiaming Lake‘s accommodation capacities were 70 per cabin before the COVID-19 pandemic. After the reopening on Friday, the daily number of occupants allowed will be 23, a local report said.

At Jiaming Lake campground, there are four tent sites available. The office stated that all campers, mountain cabin guests, as well as hikers must wear masks.

According to the office, you must apply for the campsites or cabins at least five days in advance. For applications, please visit this site.
