Wild Glamping Gal Oya’s (Sri Lanka) tented luxury chalets were recently added to Theme Resorts’ portfolio even amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a report, the luxurious tented chalets were officially declared opened by the Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Eric Lavertu, on December 20 in a brief ceremony.
It’s located on a 30-acre agricultural farm in the Galoya Valley at Rathugala. The property comprises ten large tents, a restaurant, and an infinity swimming pool.
According to Theme Resorts, Wild Glamping Gal Oya is a unique immersion into experiencing the heritage and culture in the historic village of Rathugala.
With the goal to develop sustainable tourism, the project incorporates new tourism practices such as agritourism, wildlife tourism, ethnic tourism, and eco-cultural tourism. The properties have emphasized the triple main pillars of People, Planet, and Profits through all of these.
The property’s numerous green and sustainable projects include organic practices that are sustainable with drip irrigation systems, inhouse composting as well as traditional farming practices, direct current generation through the use of solar panels for chalets and public spaces, as well as recycling of the gray water that is generated from the property and reusing it to flush out the water closets.
Wild Glamping Gal Oya is nestled in a remote region home to Sri Lanka‘s native Vadda community. In its efforts to improve the lives of locals, the property has employed 90 percent of the staff from the nearby indigenous communities. They have been given the opportunity to get involved in the construction stages of the project, then after that, in agricultural land development, which leads to boosting the local economy.
